Review Verification

Learn how FurniTalk works to support authentic customer reviews, identify suspicious activity, and maintain trust in the review community.

Why Review Verification Matters

Reviews help customers understand the experiences other people have had with furniture businesses, products, services, and transactions. For reviews to be useful, they should represent genuine experiences rather than fabricated or manipulated activity.

FurniTalk uses a combination of technology, account information, review signals, reports, and human review where appropriate to help identify content or activity that may not meet our standards.

Our goal is to support a review environment where customers and businesses can participate in an honest and transparent way.

What Does "Verified" Mean?

A verification indicator on FurniTalk may mean that a review, reviewer, transaction-related signal, account, or other relevant information has satisfied a particular verification process or requirement established by FurniTalk.

The exact meaning of a verification indicator depends on the verification method used and the context in which the indicator appears.

A verification indicator should not automatically be understood as confirmation that every statement contained in a review has been independently proven to be true.

What Verification Does Not Mean

Verification is not a guarantee that a reviewer is correct about every detail of their experience or that every factual statement in a review has been independently investigated.

Verification also does not necessarily mean that FurniTalk has personally inspected a product, visited a business, confirmed the quality of a service, or independently resolved a dispute between a customer and a business.

Reviews remain the views and experiences of the people who submit them, subject to FurniTalk's applicable policies and moderation processes.

How FurniTalk May Verify Reviews

FurniTalk may use different signals and verification methods depending on the circumstances. These may include:

  • Account information — Information associated with the reviewer's FurniTalk account.
  • Submission signals — Technical or behavioral signals associated with the submission of a review.
  • Transaction or experience information — Information that may help establish whether a reviewer had a relevant experience, where such information is available and appropriate to use.
  • Review patterns — Patterns that may indicate duplicate, coordinated, automated, or otherwise suspicious review activity.
  • User reports — Reports submitted by customers, businesses, or other users regarding potentially problematic content or activity.
  • Additional information — Information that FurniTalk may reasonably request or review when investigating a particular concern.

FurniTalk may use automated systems, human review, or a combination of both depending on the circumstances.

Not Every Review Is Independently Verified

FurniTalk does not necessarily independently verify every review before or after publication.

The absence of a verification indicator does not by itself mean that a review is false, unreliable, or prohibited. Likewise, the presence of a verification indicator does not mean that every statement in the review has been independently confirmed.

FurniTalk may review content when signals, reports, policy requirements, or other circumstances indicate that additional review may be appropriate.

Protecting Review Integrity

FurniTalk prohibits activities designed to create a misleading impression of customer sentiment or business reputation.

Prohibited activity may include:

  • Creating fake reviews or fake reviewer accounts.
  • Submitting reviews about experiences that did not occur.
  • Buying or selling reviews.
  • Offering compensation for a particular rating or review.
  • Coordinating review manipulation.
  • Submitting duplicate or substantially repetitive reviews.
  • Impersonating another customer or person.
  • Using unauthorized automation to create or manipulate reviews.
  • Pressuring customers to remove legitimate negative reviews.
  • Manipulating review content, ratings, or other reputation signals.

These standards apply to both customers and businesses.

Business Verification

FurniTalk may also provide processes for businesses to claim, manage, or verify information associated with their business profile.

A verified or claimed business profile does not mean that FurniTalk endorses the business, guarantees its products or services, or confirms the accuracy of every customer review associated with that profile.

Business verification is intended to help establish the identity or authority of a business account or profile for applicable FurniTalk features.

Automated Review Screening

FurniTalk may use automated systems to identify patterns or signals associated with potentially suspicious, abusive, fraudulent, or policy-violating activity.

Automated systems may consider factors such as submission patterns, account activity, repeated content, unusual behavior, or other signals relevant to review integrity.

Automated screening is one part of FurniTalk's broader moderation and review-integrity process. Depending on the circumstances, content or account activity may also be reviewed by people.

Human Review

FurniTalk may conduct human review when additional context is necessary, when a report is submitted, or when automated systems identify activity that may require further consideration.

Human review does not necessarily mean that FurniTalk will independently investigate every factual claim contained in a review. The purpose may instead be to determine whether the content or activity appears consistent with FurniTalk's applicable policies.

Reporting a Suspicious Review

If you believe a review may be fake, manipulated, fraudulent, abusive, or otherwise inconsistent with FurniTalk's policies, you can report it for review.

When submitting a report, provide as much relevant information as possible, including:

  • The review or business profile URL, if available.
  • The reason you believe the review may violate a policy.
  • Relevant facts or supporting information.
  • Any other information that may help FurniTalk evaluate the concern.

Reports can be submitted through the applicable reporting tools or by contacting [email protected].

What Happens After a Review Is Reported?

When FurniTalk receives a report, we may assess the reported content or activity against applicable policies and available information.

Depending on the circumstances, FurniTalk may:

  • Leave the review published.
  • Request additional information.
  • Apply a verification or warning indicator where appropriate.
  • Limit the visibility of content.
  • Remove content that violates applicable policies.
  • Take action against an account or related activity.
  • Take other appropriate action under FurniTalk's policies.

The outcome of a report may depend on the available evidence, applicable policies, and the circumstances of the individual case.

For Businesses

Businesses may report reviews when they have a legitimate concern that content violates FurniTalk's policies or applicable law.

A business may not use the reporting process simply because it disagrees with a review, dislikes a rating, or wants negative feedback removed.

FurniTalk does not guarantee that a reported review will be removed. Legitimate negative reviews may remain published when they comply with applicable policies.

For Reviewers

Reviewers help maintain the quality of the FurniTalk community by sharing genuine experiences and providing accurate information.

When writing a review:

  • Describe your genuine experience.
  • Use accurate and relevant information.
  • Avoid exaggerating or fabricating details.
  • Do not submit reviews on behalf of another person.
  • Do not accept compensation for a particular rating.
  • Protect private and confidential information.
  • Keep your review relevant to the business or experience.

For additional requirements, see the Review & Content Policy.

Verification and Privacy

Review verification may involve processing information associated with accounts, review submissions, technical activity, reports, or other relevant information.

FurniTalk handles personal information in accordance with its applicable privacy practices. For more information about how personal information is collected, used, retained, and protected, please review our Privacy Policy and GDPR & Data Protection Policy.

Questions, Appeals, and Reconsideration

If you believe FurniTalk made an error in connection with a review, verification decision, moderation action, or account action, you may contact FurniTalk through the available support channels.

Where an appeal or reconsideration process is available, FurniTalk may review relevant information and reconsider the applicable decision in accordance with its policies.

Not every decision can be reversed, and FurniTalk may limit repeated or abusive appeals.

Important Limitations

FurniTalk's verification and moderation systems are designed to identify and address signals of potentially unreliable or policy-violating activity. No verification or moderation system can detect every form of fraud, manipulation, or inaccurate information.

A review's publication or verification status should therefore not be treated as a guarantee of the reviewer's claims or as an endorsement by FurniTalk of the reviewer, business, product, service, or transaction described.
